Hey there everyone Its finally here the 1 million sub Massive Motor Melt Down. This was a brutal breakdown and my hands feel like they have been through a grinder but after a long week of Breaking Melting and Editing its definitely all worth it. A touch under the 30KG mark of pure copper from this big motor which im pretty happy about as i guessed i would only get about 25KG. Now I know this is a super long video but i had well over 9 hours of footage i compressed down to 34 minutes. I hope you do enjoy the longer video today , Now sit back and take a load off for half an hour and check out this Scrapyard found Massive motor melt.
Feel like supporting the channel it wont cost you a cent as you can Simply just donate some of your time. By just by allowing the ads to play through this will help out a lot and that’s how I make a bit extra revenue and the good thing is more revenue means more giveaways and more treats for the dogs👊🏻😄. A better way to support the channel is play one of my playlists on your computer before you walk away from it and let it play through that really helps as well but don’t ever feel as though you need to watch the ads if you don’t want to simply skip them and move into the video it’s completely up to you and I understand if you don’t have the time to do so👌🏻and like I always say if you like the rings shown and used in this video be sure to check out the description where you can get 20% off the already discounted rings using my code and if you want to try your hand at melting yourself you can buy the burner on its own or the whole furnace set up and I can organize a 5% link for you off the total furnace price just email me on bigstackddddd@mail.com 😁👍🏻.

I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it.

Hey BigStack! I used to work in a motor repair shop. The way we pulled the windings out of a motor that size was to use an air chisel to cut one of the ends off the winding, then use a flame wand to burn off all the varnish. The coils would just pull out of the other end. Lot less messy.

You said Total time, with editing, probably the most time consuming portion, was a week. How many hours total went into getting the copper to its final state, from a value to time ratio, equaling a final dollar per hour rate ( yes, I'm in Alaska, USA)? I have the option to recycle motors like this whole here. It's just under a dollar per pound though, compared to 4.50ish per for the copper. Is it worth breaking it down? What was your final hourly rate of profit? Thanks so much for the vid mate, very well put together, well done! Looking forward to seeing more!

I can tell you how we get the winding out. When we rewind a motor we cut one end of the winding off with a chisel. An angle grinder is good too if you don't want to reuse the stator. Then we turn the stator over with the remaining half of the winding pointing up, we heat the stator up so the varnish gets soft and pull one coil after another out. This stator would be empty in 1 - 1.5 hours.

Me too, really wanted to know how much he paid. If it’s .30 c a pound, he ends up losing money on the deal (266$ for end copper). It’d be cool to see a way to do something like this that’s actually profitable. Someone would’ve been better off just going and buying the scrap copper bars.

This video brought back a lot of memories. I worked for my brother as an Electrician's helper and I collected all scrap coppers for 2 years and I saved around 1.5k lbs, and copper was $2.75/lb. when I sold them and made $4,065. BTW, I don't burn the insulation, I meticulously and patiently stripped them by hand using nothing but, my handy knife.

There's different grades of copper too.. Grades 3, 2, and 1.. The scale is based on how clean your copper is.. The last time I took copper back here in Detroit, it was $2.55/lb (pound) for grade #1... You got the most for grade #1... Grade #3 you got the least .. That was a great video. How much did that scrap motor cost you? Not to mention the delivery charge, I’m thinking about doing some projects like that but trying to do some research into how much things cost as they all certainly cut into the ending totals, and it’s better to do the math now than kicking myself in the ass later. You ever think of getting a small machining mill? You could make your bars look insane not to mention the time it would save cleaning them up while making the scrap easier to collect and remelt as opposed to all that dust that’s created from wire wheeling them down. Just a thought. Love the videos and look forward to your next large project mate. 🍻

I worked in a foundry melting scrap aluminium to make small Aluminium castings. Corrosion and feeding the cold scrap too quickly into the molten metal would often cause explosions. This was in the days before Safety PPE so it was every man for himself as we scattered before the flying molten metal could land on us.

Just from the appearance of the fireproof wool coat of both furnaces tells you how much more frequently he uses one furnace than he does the other if he uses the other much at all, which he obviously does because it does have a little bit of carbon degradation on it which comes from using it but it's nowhere near as drastic on the right furnace as it is on the left one

What a fantastic job! Amazing that it took 7 days to tear apart, melt, clean up and edit. Really appreciate you sharing. 👍 Have a great weekend.

The molten copper upon being poured was quite possibly the most aesthetically pleasing image I've ever seen 😍

hey there bigstackd, I am very interested in these video's I got myself a set up before I realised that you had special offers, but thats all cool, I have what I need now, I am interested in how, / where you are able to go to get your hands on scrap metal to melt down, also I am a beginer welder that is just learning to do some little practicing & exercises, I have fun just learning do do some little exercises that keep my mind occupied, I have stage IV melanoma cancer it is a secondary cancer the drs, never found the primary one, I have been as sick as anything over lockdown because of my medical treatment resume, but I am still alive & am happiest the most when I get to make stuff or repair stuff, but my dreams are a bit better focused now when I sleep because at least I am thinking about all the things that I have done / created for some of my friends when they have stuff that breaks, & I just ask them to hang on to there stuff that they can't fix & I fix it for them for free & I feel that it's nice to be able to not only create stuff but repair stuff too, I haven't opened up my melting foundry kit yet but I have been watching a fair few of you videos for some idea's & insperations.

I didn't realize that copper had such a high melting point. The saying holds true that you learn something new everyday.

The roar of the furnace, the sheen of liquid metal, the cooling sound of the ice, all these things have a special meaning for me. Thank you for what you do, congrats on the milestone, and wishing you and yours all the best. On a side note, my new job has me dealing with steel all day, so seeing 60 pounds of finished product and imagining moving it inside is something I know a lot about.

You know why bigstackD is always fun at parties? Because he's good at breaking the ice! You know, because he always throws things at the ice block... I'll show myself out.

This lucky motor never expected to turn into such beautiful copper bars ...

Seeing the bars melt thru the ice blocks always reminds me of those worms games. Some of the weapons in that game melt the landscape kinda like that

Зачем столько сложностей в разборке?))С одной стороны медь отпиливается,а всё оставшееся хорошенько обжигается на костре.После обжига медь легко вынется

This is the kinda forge work I wanna get into. Making those mouthwatering forbidden brownies .
Just curious to note... How high does the temperature get 6 feet above the furnace? I notice you are doing this in your garage. What are the chances you will need to use your homeowner's policy to rebuild your garage?

Hi, I really like your videos. I have a forge too and I really liked its burner or blowtorch (I don't know what you call it). Could you recommend a trustworthy website to buy one for me? I am from Portugal. Thanks and a big hug. keep making these spectacular videos. thanks

I was going to comment the driveway bricks were too nice not to cover up. Rust stains are going to be there for a really long time.
